And finally, after several months of waiting, here we are! The beginning of a 7 months journey, during which we will experience buzzing Asian capitals and calm rice fields, the beauty of paradisiac beaches and quiet islands.
We arrived in Hong Kong two nights ago, and we will stay until Monday. For now, our architectural and culinary expectations are fulfilled, but we will talk about that in detail a little later. It‘s raining quite a bit, while being at a moderate temperature of around 18-20 degrees, so the temperature shock is not too big. So we are in Hong Kong now, before going to…
That‘s right, so where are we gonna go in the next 7 months?
On Monday, we are heading to the Philippines, for a month of relaxing and diving (no need for a visa for the first 30 days), exploring the surroundings of Cebu and Palawan. We won‘t change our program here too much, as we already had to purchase our plane ticket from Cebu to Palawan, as prices were going up, and our onward travel to Kuala Lumpur (immigration may ask for proof of onward travel).
You may have guessed now that our next stop will be Malaysia. We don‘t know yet exactly what we will do and for how long we‘ll stay. However, we know that we will take a boat, most likely from Langkawi, to get to Southern Thailand.
We will stay a few weeks on the islands of Southern Thailand, among which Koh Lanta, which we fell in love with during a vacation in winter 2017. This will be followed by Bangkok and Northern Thailand, where we are likely to go by train (we love night trains, especially Julia). We will enter Laos from Northern Thailand and will travel south into Cambodia.
Finally, off to Indonesia via Singapore and then… we shall see how much time and money are left!
Nothing is set in stone, besides some dates where we know that friends or family will join us for a couple of weeks. 🙂
The budget and equipment for all this? Stay tuned!
